The dress code for a dhow cruise in Dubai is smart casual. Nobody expects formal wear, but beach shorts, flip-flops, and gym clothes will make you feel underdressed next to everyone else on the upper deck.
For men: what works
A collared shirt or a clean polo with chinos or dark trousers is the safe choice. A light blazer is fine in the cooler months from October to April but not required. Closed shoes or smart loafers work better than sandals, because you will be walking on a wooden deck and climbing a short staircase to the upper deck. If you plan to stand at the rail for photos, avoid very loose shirts that flap in the sea breeze.
For women: what works
A midi or maxi dress, a skirt with a blouse, or tailored trousers with a smart top all fit the evening perfectly. Dubai is cosmopolitan, and dhow cruises host tourists from everywhere, so dress to your own comfort within smart casual. One practical tip: the upper deck can be breezy, so very short skirts and strappy tops that need constant adjusting are more trouble than they are worth.
