New Year's Eve is the one night of the year when the dhow cruise becomes a gala: an extended sailing, a special buffet, live entertainment, and a front-row position on the water as Dubai's midnight fireworks light up the skyline. It sells out every year. This guide explains what the NYE sailing includes, what it costs, and how to secure your seats.
What makes NYE different from a normal cruise?
Everything is scaled up. The sailing is longer than the standard 2 hours, the buffet is a special gala spread rather than the regular menu, entertainment is extended, and the route is timed so the boat is in prime position at midnight. Instead of returning at 10:30 PM, you are on the water when the fireworks begin, watching them reflected in the Marina with the city lit up around you. It is the most premium night in our calendar, and it is priced that way.
The fireworks from the water
Dubai's New Year fireworks are famous worldwide, and seeing them from a boat is a different experience from watching on land. There are no crowds pressing around you, no blocked sightlines, and the reflections on the water double the show. The Marina route positions you for the JBR and Bluewaters displays, with the skyline as the backdrop. Guests consistently call it the highlight of their Dubai trip.
What is included on NYE
The NYE package includes the extended sailing, the gala buffet dinner with premium dishes and a live BBQ, unlimited soft drinks, a celebration cake at midnight, and extended live entertainment. Exact inclusions are finalised each autumn and published on our website. What does not change: it is a full evening, roughly twice the experience of a standard cruise, and the price reflects that.
Pricing and booking
NYE is premium-priced, well above the standard AED 79 dinner cruise, and packages are announced in the autumn. Because catering, entertainment, and staffing are locked in per guest, NYE bookings have a stricter confirmation and cancellation policy than regular sailings, which we state clearly at booking. Message us on WhatsApp for the current year's NYE packages and prices as soon as they are released.
How far ahead to book
Weeks ahead, minimum. NYE routinely sells out, and the best tables go first. If you know you will be in Dubai for New Year, message us in November to register your interest, and we will notify you the moment packages open. Waiting until the last week of December almost guarantees disappointment: by then we are managing a waiting list, not taking bookings.
Tips for the night
Arrive at the pier early: NYE boarding is busier than usual and traffic around the Marina is heavy. Dress for a gala evening, one level above the usual smart casual. Bring a light jacket regardless of the forecast; midnight on open water is cool even in Dubai. And keep your phone charged: you will want it at midnight, and so will everyone else.
NYE vs a regular December cruise
If you are in Dubai over the New Year period but unsure about the gala sailing, here is the honest comparison. A regular December dinner cruise (AED 79 per adult) gives you the standard 2-hour sailing, the international buffet, and the Tanoura show on any night, including December 30th, at the normal price and with the normal free cancellation policy. The NYE sailing is a different product entirely: extended hours on the water, a special gala buffet, midnight celebrations with cake, and the fireworks from the best seat in the city, at premium pricing with stricter booking terms. Choose NYE for the once-a-year spectacle; choose a regular December night for the classic cruise experience at the classic price. Either way, book early: the last ten days of December fill faster than any other period of the year.
