Best Time to Book a Dhow Cruise in Dubai

Dhow cruises sail every night of the year in Dubai, but not every night is equal. The experience, the crowds, and the breeze on the upper deck all change with the season. This guide explains the best months to cruise, how far ahead to book, and which nights sell out first, so you can plan the evening properly.
The seasons: October to April is peak
The best months for a dhow cruise are October through April, when Dubai's evenings are cool and dry. This is when the upper deck is at its most pleasant: a light breeze, clear skies, and a skyline that photographs beautifully. December and January are the absolute peak, with the busiest boats and the most festive atmosphere. If you are visiting in these months, the cruise belongs near the top of your itinerary, not as an afterthought.
Summer cruising: May to September
Dhow cruises run all summer, and there are real advantages: boats are quieter, booking is easier, and prices are at their most competitive. The trade-off is the heat and humidity, even at night. The practical move in summer is to spend the buffet and show time on the air-conditioned lower deck and step up to the open deck in shorter bursts for photos. If you are heat-sensitive, the sunset cruise, which finishes by 6:30 PM, can feel warmer than the late-evening dinner sailing.
How far ahead should you book?
For most of the year, booking 24 to 48 hours ahead is enough to secure your seats. In peak season (December to February), and on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights year-round, book 3 to 5 days ahead if you can. For New Year's Eve, book weeks ahead: it is a special sailing with premium pricing and it sells out every year. Private charters need more notice than shared cruises, ideally a week, so the boat and catering can be arranged.
Which nights sell out first?
Weekend nights go first. In Dubai the weekend is Saturday and Sunday, but the cruise boats fill up on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, when both tourists and residents are out. If your dates are flexible and you want the calmest, roomiest sailing, pick a Sunday to Wednesday evening. You will get the same buffet, the same show, and more space on the upper deck.
Best time of the evening
Within a single night, the dinner cruise (boarding 7:45 PM, sailing 8:30 to 10:30 PM) is the classic choice and the most popular. The sunset cruise (boarding 5:00 PM, sailing 5:30 to 6:30 PM) suits travellers who want golden-hour photos and a free evening afterwards, or families with young children who will not last until 10:30 PM. Neither is better; they are different evenings for different plans.
Deals and pricing through the year
Standard prices stay stable most of the year: AED 79 per adult for the Marina dinner cruise, AED 59 for the Creek, and AED 67 for the sunset sailing. Summer sometimes brings promotional rates, and group bookings can unlock better per-person pricing on private charters. Be cautious of prices that look far below the market: a legitimate cruise has fixed costs for the boat, the crew, and the buffet, and an unusually cheap ticket usually means something has been cut.
Last-minute bookings: can you book today?
Often, yes. If you message us in the morning or early afternoon, we can usually fit you on that evening's sailing outside peak periods. Same-day bookings work best Sunday to Wednesday; on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and through December and January, the boats often fill a day or two ahead. When you message last-minute, tell us your group size and have a second-choice date ready in case your first pick is full. One honest note: last-minute bookers get the same cruise, the same buffet, and the same price as everyone else. There is no penalty for booking late, only the risk that the boat is full, so the earlier you message, the better your chances.
